Relay Hawaii allows you to place and receive calls to and from anywhere in the world using English or Spanish.
Callers from a country outside the United States may also access Relay Hawaii by calling 605-224-1837.
TTY PAYPHONES

711 or 877-447-5990
All local calls from TTY payphones are free of charge.
TTY payphones are usually available at hospitals, airports, train stations, hotels, libraries, museums, government buildings and freeway rest stops.
DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE
Relay Hawaii will relay Directory Assistance (DA) calls between TTY users and a DA operator. Once the caller makes the request, the Relay Operator will connect to the DA operator. After obtaining the number, the caller may choose to place the call through Relay Hawaii or dial TTY to TTY directly.

Answering Machine Retrieval Instructions

To request answering machine retrieval, dial 711 or 877-447-5990.

When the Relay Operator responds, type "AMR GA."

The relay operator will type, "PLS PLACE YOUR HANDSET NEXT TO YOUR ANS MACHINE AND TURN ON GA."

The TTY user places a handset on the speaker part of the answering machine until all messages have been retrieved.

Then the TTY user places the handset back on the TTY and types "GA."

The relay operator types the messages.
Voice Mail Retrieval Instructions

To request voice mail retrieval, dial 711.

When the Relay Operator responds, type the phone number you wish to call with your password or special instructions and then "GA."
DIAL 911 FOR EMERGENCY CALL ONLY

711 is not an emergency number
In case of emergency, relay users should call the TTY equipped 911 Center or emergency services center in their community.
NOTE: Relay Hawaii can process emergency calls but it may take longer for the connection to be made.
TTY users who cannot obtain emergency service via 911 may call 711 and inform the relay operator there is an emergency situation.
